Today I went to my physio for the first time since the surgery. We did some exercises, mainly legs and working on my posture. I also got homework, about 20 mins a day exercises and stretches.
Then at dinner my soup was a bit thick. I suddenly remembered that my doctor said I should take out the bands for 10-15 mins a day now to start using the muscles again. So I decided to take out the bands and eat this thick soup like that. It was okay, still struggling a bit with the soup and slowly opening my mouth. It didn't really hurt but it also wasn't 100% without pain opening the mouth. So I was like "yupp that's enough for today". Took a good 10 minutes to put the bands back in because I didn't really remember where they were and I didn't understand the pictures I took of the positions. But after looking well at the pictures I took (my doctor told me to take pictures of the bands before taking them out so I could place them in the same spots again), it worked. And I'm about 70% sure they're in the right spot, maybe one band is a bit crooked but that's a B+ still. I'm pretty sure it's not the end of the world... or I'm 100% sure it's not the end of the world, but I'm pretty sure it's not too bad for my recovery even if it's not exactly the same. The doctor was struggling putting the bands in once when my face was really swollen so he then adjusted to that and put the bands in differently.
What else can I tell you.... My weight fluctuates a lot. Sometimes I maybe don't eat enough. I definitely didn't eat enough yesterday so it was 57kg this morning and now at night it's 59kg. I'm supposed to observe it and I'm doing what I can to get back to 60kg at least. Right now I'm about to eat my second ice cream portion of the day, luxury life!
Icey is out!
I woke up pretty early for my time (I'm not able to fall asleep very early still) to go see the doctor. First thing, he examined a bit and told me everything looks fine! Of course... I was just imagining things. Then he took my stitches out. That was awesome, but you know what! I found one tonight when I was brushing my teeth, he must have forgotten or not seen it. Oopsie, but that's okay!
Today was another busy day. I had to take care of organizing next year and then there was Sportsman of the year in Iceland. This year has been the craziest year in sports. The soccer national team was amazing and so much fun to follow. The swimmer girl did great at the Olympics which was also awesome to follow. And then I was in third place of the vote. I wasn't going to go to the ceremony, because it's really long, tiring for me, and I didn't expect to get any food for the whole time, and last but not least I wasn't really excited about having people take pictures of me looking like a hamster because I'm still swollen from the surgery. But they convinced me to go and it was good! It was fun! I'm really embarrassed though now that I see the pictures afterwards, I couldn't really smile normally, but hopefully noooooobody even noticed ;) I got special treatment though. They made a soup only for me! That was really nice. I couldn't eat much of it, I'm super slow of course and because there was so much going on. When I had eaten one third of the soup I was brought to the makeup room because I would have to be on the stage. That was it for my soup, but I brought a snack, Joe & the Juice and I drank a coke, so it was fine.
Now I'm really sleepy and I have to stop. I'm yawning so much and I don't like yawning with the bands.
Goooood night! Lot's of love!
My cousin helped me fix my computer! He's a genius!
This one's gonna be short, it's so late. But the status on my teeth jaw BOOM:
1. It's not so comfortable eating hot / cold food, because usually you would open your mouth but now it's just going straight on the teeth since I can't open my mouth with the bands. Need to learn to take my time eating my ice cream
2. I'm scared I migth have infections. But it's probably nothing, I'm just being dramatic because I haven't seen the doctor for some time. My gums feel a bit like they have blisters and again I'm worried about my wisdom teeth area.
3. I've never been so excited to go see a doctor in my life. I actually didn't end up texting him or calling the office, it can wait until tomorrow! Woohoo
I worked a lot on the computer today. Sent million emails and was about to finish my budget when... I got the message of zero disc space and what did I do, I tried cleaning up a bit. But it only made things worse because as soon as my computer realized there was disc space again it freewillingly decided to back up my phone and that's when it happened: It froze, I restarted, White screen.
It feels like so long since I saw my doctor, because of Christmas of course, he's not working. I also don't want to write him about some of the things I'm experiencing in my mouth/jaw and bother him on his vacation days. But I'm getting really "tired" in my jaw. Feels like I've been biting hard for dayssss without a break. This is the second day I'm feeling a bit more pain. I migth call the office tomorrow and ask if there's something I can do to make it better, or if the bands are too tight. I also think I'm smiling/laughing too much. My cheeks are kind of tired/sore. I guess my family is just too much fun, and Bridget Jones too funny! I watched the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd now the last three days. Bridget Jones baby is really great! I recommend it!
Well I have to say. I'm a bit sad I can't watch my Sherlock Holmes episode before falling asleep. I guess one shall have to seek old fashion entertainment... say in a book! A splendid Nicholas Sparks novel I haven't finished.
I'm feeling a bit more pain than usually. But I'm not really taking painkillers as a routine anymore. Only if I wanna feel a bit more comfortable in my face. My nose hurts sometimes, or to be specific: the bone under my nose. Most of the pain is coming from close to that area. But don't get me wrong, it's not like it's UNBAREABLE pain... nothing like that! But they did cut my bone ;) So it has to heal. I have slight pain in my teeth also, the feeling of that is more like meeting the orthodontist and they adjust the wire. I sometimes feel, not exactly like a crack but almost. And of course if somebody touches my face or if I'm trying to wash my face it's a bit sore.
I was observing a bit in my mouth tonight. Because the swelling has gone down I can actually do that now. I was trying to see the area close to my left wisdom tooth (or where it used to be). I had a strange feeling there. What did I find: Stitches and a white hump. I'm always discovering new stiches! But anyways, it looked the same on the other side, so I'm guessing the hump normal! (or I really hope so! else both sides would be messed up).
My chin is not as numb, and I have really kissable lips. It's a funny feeling. Because there's little tingles in my lips I can imagine this is like having a botox.
I'm worried about one thing. As I see my face now, my nose is leaning a bit more to one side. Maybe it has something to do with uneven swelling, the tube they stuck in my nostril during surgery, maybe I'm imagining it or whatever. But I really hope my nose will be pretty close to normal. I don't need a crooked nose on top of my already boxy, non-nostrils of a nose heh
But a little about today! My brothers came over with their families. It was really fun! We took on the puzzle a bit more, it's really challenging, we still only have the outsides and a bit in some areas. I got to eat mashed potatoes with some meat and sauce in the mixer, pretty liquid. Then a looooooot of dessert! Icecream ;)
That's it for now!
Today is all about relaxing at my house, wearing the pyjamas all day! I watched three movies today, all with Hugh Grant and two of them with Colin Firth (About a boy, Love Actually, Bridget Jones). How creative of the TV programmers! Then we started a puzzle and I "played" with my gifts from yesterday. Started this world scratch map, the places I've been.
I'm feeling a bit tingles in my chin and lower lip the last two days. Also, my teeth feel like I'm biting really really hard together. I'm guessing it's the bands holding my teeth shut... They are pretty tight. But my teeth are also moving to the new bite because of the pressure of the bands. There used to be a bit of a gap on the left side so the teeth didn't completely bite together, but that's gone now.
In honor of master George Michael we'll end this with one of my favorite songs by him. People that know me know that I'm a sucker for emotional songs.
We lost a legend today.
'Twas a good day!
I laid in bed as long as I could. Then got up because I knew the little people were about to visit the house and mayyyyybe there would be a secret guest! So I took a bath and got ready for them.
This picture is funny! Kristjan Leo so happy, Katrin Lara is trying to escape from Santa. There were "better" ones but I liked this one! Not everything has to be perfectly set up.
Then I watched Home Alone, the one that happens in New York- Classic! I did my mom's makeup. Put some "Carmen" (rolls) in my hair with help from my mom. Pretty funny, my dad then helped me take the rolls out, new Christmas tradition! This Christmas was very chill. We didn't care too much about having everything perfect on time. More relaxed and just ate a bit after 6 when everything was ready and we were happy. I got to eat two bowls of lobster soup this Christmas. We opened some presents and the highligth was definitely when my dad got a cologne and shower gel. When I looked at him he was trying it out and putting the shower gel in his hair! DAAAD what are you doing, "oh I thought it was hair cream" or however you translate that word hahaha
I got really nice quality presents that were given thought into. I'm very thankful! Like usually my dad doesn't care that much about opening the presents but he gets the most. After presents we ate some amaaaazing homemade icecream my mom had made, she put it in the mixer for me and I had to get seconds because it was so great!! Then me and my mom were just having a pyjama night upstairs and watching TV. Very cozy! Then I skyped Thomas and he showed me his presents and opened a few for me that were uneccessary to bring to Iceland (just to bring them back to Germany... naah).
Thomas left in the middle of the night to go to Germany and spend Christmas with his parents. He has spent so much time traveling with me and in Iceland for school that he really wanted to spend Christmas with them. That's understandable, I also wish I could have spent more time in Germany. I'll miss my main man! But in only 12 days he'll return to me :)
Today I had my first sneeze! (that was a bit scary). And first real smile! Woohoo!
I didn't pay attention to it, but it's getting easier to wake up in the mornings, the last 2 days. Also, I'm not taking painkillers anymore. Just a voltaren now and then if I feel pain and it does helps with the swelling. I also have a new antibiotics medicine, this one is wayyyy better tasting so I'm happy for that. Then my weight is getting consistent! The new stuff is definitely helping! All going the right direction.
I'm feeling a bit lazy today, maybe it's the weird sleeping last night. I woke up two times throughout the night. But I did go outside again today and visit my cousin. But definitely a lot of laying in bed other than that.
The day before Christmas we eat some "Salt fish" as it's called in Iceland. I get it from the mixer hahah... it's okay! But I warn you! If your mouth is closed with bands/wires, it WILL test your patience! Especially if you are hungry. Oh my! I was getting a bit hangry, as it might have been a bit too thick (I rather wanted it that way, then it's more like the original). Let's just say between my teeth was getting congested, and I kept having to clean it to be able to get some food through.
My counting is a bit weird? It's Thursday, I had my surgery on Thursday but... it's Day 8?
Ahemm oh well!
Today was the first time my weight went down to 58 kg. Not happy times. So what did we do.
I had two calorie bombs today. First one the buildup drink and the second one ohohoooo, it was enormous. A new meal replacement my amigo brought me. This one is already a bomb, but I added 4 spoons of peanutbutter and 2 banans and put it in the mixer. Thomas also made me dessert at night. He melted some chocolate for me and also melted a water based ice cream for me. We shall get my weight up again!!!
I went to Joe&the Juice and got 5 juices for myself! Got some of my favorites: Hangover heaven and Hell of a nerve. Then I was also choosing ones that had more calories, with avocados and such. These are great!!!!
After that I visited my Goddaugther, Katrin Lara. It was my first real trip outside other than going to the doctor. My brother bought a new house so I was seeing it for the first time.
My swelling is always getting better and I can aaaaaaaalmost smile!
I woke up, like I got hit by a bus, that's how tired my body was. But same as always, takes like 20 mins and then I'm good and ready for the day. There was beautiful snow in Iceland today!! I took a nice warm bath. Stepped on the scale and ahemm... the scale is not my friend these days. I was 59.0kg. So I gotta do even more with my eating. At one point yesterday I got over 60kg again, that was good at least!
My mom slips cream and butter in all my food to try to make me gain weight again haha. I notice it, because I can taste it, but... "noooooo what are you talking about, I just put a little bit". I'm not a fan...
I went to the doctor. He says I look great! (Hah... every time he says that I'm like "mmmmm maybe medically"). My right side is a bit more swollen, and when you touch it it's a bit firmer. But that will also get better, nothing bad. I got some advice from him. So I bought this drink from Nestle, Build up, a meal replacement and full of calories. So I am soon to be round as a golfball ;)
Today has been a busy busy day! But a great day! I'm excited to share with you later what's going on! My plan for next season is starting to shape more an more and I look forward to everything that will come.
My brother Kristinn and his family came visit again and we had a great dinner together. For me on the menu today was some pumpkin soup, followed by one of my favorite Icelandic dishes: Aspergus roll with ham and cheese.
Have a look below at what is possible if you have a good appetite, strong will and marvelous blender.
Until next time my friends!
